Linked organisations

St Michael’s maintains valued links with the following organisations:

Trinity at SMNG

We are delighted to have Trinity Church based at St Michael’s for its Office and Counselling Services.
Trinity Church is a member of FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) and generally meets at St Barnabas Primary School in Jericho.

Gatehouse

We are active in our support by preparing sandwiches and delivering them once a month to the Gatehouse at St Giles. Please contact the church administrator for details. Access to the Gatehouse website is available here.

Mission Aviation Fellowship  aa

MAF does splendid work in bringing medical aid, emergency relief and Christian aid to remote parts of Africa, the Caribbean and Asia-Pacific. It has been our chosen charity since 2020.

Oxford Centre for Spiritual Growth  aa

St Michael’s is the home of OCSG. We help organise and run OCSG events, most of which can be enjoyed both in person and online.

Oxford Winter Night Shelter

We were part of the December to March rota for Winter nights in 18/19 and 19/20. For 20/21 this changed because of the pandemic. We retained our links to OWNS and were back to the Winter rota from 23/24.

St Michael’s and All Saints’ Charities

There is a longstanding association with the Charities as an integral part of our operation, supporting the Church and the wider community.

St Michael’s Oxford Educational Trust

This is one of St Michael’s and All Saints’ Charities which we would like to draw particular attention to. The aim is to provide a small level of assistance for individual educational needs in Oxford. Further details are available here.

Holywell Cemetery

We are connected to Oxford Conservation Volunteers and help with clearing ivy and maintaining the cemetery. There is historical information about the Cemetery on the Oxford History Website. Caring for the Cemetery is a joint concern of St Michael’s and the University Church. As a rule, gardening day is the second Saturday of every month, meeting there around 10am – we will advise of this in our newsletter, published weekly on our Website.
If you would like to join us on gardening days, do contact our Office: Tel. (0) 1865 240 940 / Email: bookings@smng.org.uk

Community Groups

Here at St Michael’s we welcome the following Community Groups:

Alcoholics Anonymous  aa

Alcoholics Anonymous was founded in America in 1936. It is a worldwide fellowship of individuals, working in small groups, who wish to overcome this addiction. Remarkably, each small group is self-managed and self-funded.
They meet here on:
Mondays 6-7pm
Tuesdays 1-2pm & 6-7pm
Thursdays 6-7pm
Saturdays 6-7pm
A link to their UK Website is available here

Adult Children of Alcoholics

ACA was founded in America in 1973 to provide support to those who have grown up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional families. Like AA, it runs on self-managed and self-funded principles.
They meet at St Michael’s on:
Tuesdays 7.30-8.30pm;
Thursdays 5.30-7pm, first Thursday of the month only;
Fridays 12:30-13:30pm.
A link to their UK website is available here

Oxford Creative Connections

We are delighted to have an art class here at St Michael’s once a month on Saturday afternoon, as a way to engage with art, and with others, in a relaxed and friendly environment. Classes are from 1pm – 3pm.

Oxford City Singers    cs

OCS was founded in 2009 by Michelle Creswell as a lighter, but still musically proper, choral venture. St Michael’s hosts their rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm. We are delighted by the long queue forming outside and then by the joyous sound filling our Church.

Samaritans     s

Samaritans began in 1953 in England and is now a world wide network, known primarily for its outstanding work in suicide counselling.
They use St Michael’s as a base on Friday evenings when they are out and about in the City’s streets helping those in need.
